Count's Swamp

Although in the past it was an area harbinger of malaria, a serious plague for peasant populations until the first decades of the 1900s and for this reason reclaimed several times, the so-called Palude del Conte was included in the SCI of the "Natura 2000 Network", for the interesting and peculiar natural environment. Periodically, many stretches of the marsh are home to salt meadows with black rush and large-leaved plantain, common limonium and limonium virgato. Marsh reeds, rushes and numerous other species typical of these lands, such as the marsh orchid and the aquatic orchid, grow luxuriantly along the canals.
